Confrontational; A Conversation Getting to the Root

Mr. T: “You’re confrontational.”

Mr. S: “How can you say I’m confrontational when I only asked you a question?”

Mr. T: “I don’t know.”

Mr. S: “I don’t believe that is confrontational, however, you seem to get uncomfortable and defensive when I ask you certain questions.

Mr. T: “You’re right.”

Mr. S: “You cannot call someone confrontational for asking you a question that requires only that you tell the truth. The problem here is that you’re anticipating confrontation. You think I’m asking you a question because I’m looking to argue with you about the answer, but the truth is that I only want the truth from you.”

Mr. T: “Help me become a better communicator.”

Mr. S. “Okay. Don’t assume anything. If I ask you a question, just answer it. If all I’m asking of you is the truth, then you cannot be wrong for giving the truth.
