Looking at the Current Ascendent/Descendent Axis

June 28, 2025

Hello everyone! At approximately 3:53 pm, Scorpio was rising, so let’s take a look at the polarity between Taurus and Scorpio.

Both Taurus and Scorpio are fixed, and both are feminine, so, we have this very passive and introverted energy that can be resistant to change. Please, don’t panic when you see “fixed”. A lot of people do, and they think, immediately, that it’s a bad thing. When you have two signs like Taurus and Scorpio, as determined and perseverant as they are, there’s a certain amount of stubbornness that comes with the personality. It’s natural.

As a matter of fact, it’s difficult to be passionate, determined, and committed without being a little resistant to change. The key is to know when you’ve pushed the envelope as far as it can be pushed. When your resistance to change becomes costly, then you must reconsider things if the preservation of what you have is important to you.

Taurus is an earth sign, and when we’re talking about earth, we’re dealing with sense, the five human senses we use to experience this reality. Earth signs are grounded, and they give is the ability to be in the moment-to be here now.

Scorpio is a water sign, and when we’re talking about water, we’re dealing with intuition. A lot of people say water signs deal with feelings, and while I used to slightly agree with that, I don’t anymore. Feelings, I believe, are something completely different, and I don’t want to get into that now, but if you really think about it, how we feel or our feelings, are stirred up or invoked through the senses.

When it comes to the balancing of any polarity involving water and earth, I like to say this: “It’s a muddy mess.”

If you take water and add it to earth, you get mud. You have a muddy mess, and you then have to get dirty and dive into that muddy mess to find something of value. The is the balancing between our intuition and our senses, and this can be tricky.

Without our senses it would be almost impossible for us to experience this life let alone enjoy it, but just because something appeals to us through our senses, that doesn’t mean it’s good for us.

Take food for example. A lot of foods that taste good aren’t actually the healthiest foods for us to eat. We can actually be misled by our senses, and an overindulgence in things we desire can bury that little voice within we call intuition. Balance. You must absolutely enjoy life, but not at the expense of your higher self.

There are certain darker qualities in the sign of Scorpio that can burn us up. Vindictive and merciless are two that come to mind immediately, but jealousy is another one. We need to have to control over these qualities because Scorpio can be extremely passionate. The good qualities of Taurus, if prominent, can certainly help us manifest the most beneficial outcomes. Trustworthiness and patience can help balance the dark side of Scorpio.

Right now, with the ascendant on Scorpio, and the descendent on Taurus, we’re dealing with the First House and the Seventh House. The First House is us and the Seventh House is the other-our partners, our partnerships, marriage, or our enemies.

Don’t get discouraged if you’re having a difficult time balancing this polarity. You’re not going to learn everything alone. Clearly, some of what we need to learn must come from someone else.
