News Now

Hello Everyone! Welcome.

NASA ๐Ÿš€- At some point I think we discussed Perseverance (NASA’s rover) landing on Mars, but I just saw something interesting today when I clicked on a link on the NASA website. The link took me to a “Quick Facts” page where I read that one of Perseverance’s main objectives is to seek signs of ancient life. I’ve read several articles on the internet, and I’ve watched several videos discussing the possibility of humans living on Mars at one time. Someone posted a picture (I don’t know if it was real or not) of pyramids on Mars. It’s a pretty popular image obviously, and of course it raises the question-How did they get there? I never took that image seriously because you never know; it could’ve been photoshopped, but I find it interesting that NASA is using time and dollars to seek signs of ancient life so they must know something we don’t.

๐ŸŽฌ-If you don’t know who Bernie Mac was, he was a comedian who died at age 50 in 2008. He also had his own show called, The Bernie Mac Show, he was in a handful of movies including Friday (He played Pastor Clever) and Ocean’s Eleven, and he preformed on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. So, I was watching a YouTube video the other day about his life, and he said something that resonated with me; it’s something definitely worth passing along. “I was never in competition with anyone. I always tried to be the best person I could be-within myself.” That’s it right there. For all of you out there who are trying to do something special-that’s how you get it done.

๐Ÿ€NBA-The Philadelphia 76ers are in 1st place in the Eastern Conference, a half game up on the Nets. They are 27-12 overall, 17-3 at home, and they have a 5-game winning streak.

๐ŸคฌBuzzfeednews.com- This website just dropped a story about the growing verbal and physical assaults directed towards Asian Americans. Largely due to the pandemic-racist scapegoating over COVID-19, 3,795 incidents have been reported between March 19, 2020, and February 28th of this year.

๐Ÿ€โšพ๐Ÿ’ฒ- According to The Boston Globe’s Mike Silverman, Lebron James is now a partner in the Fenway Sports Group. James owns an undisclosed amount of FSG shares, which makes him part owner of the Boston Red Sox!

โ™“โ™ˆ- Currently, the sun is in the astrological sign of Pisces, but it will be entering Aries around March 20th. The suns entry in Aries usually marks the Equinox or the first day of Spring. Aries is the first cardinal sign of a given year since our calendar year begins when the sun is in Capricorn (Tropical Astrology). It goes like this-Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries (Earth, Air, Water, and Fire). We all know how important the Spring is. The Earth comes back to life, and we complete our annual Spring cleaning. Yup, it’s a new year and new signs of life spring forth during the Equinox. To stay in flow, we get rid of everything that’s now useless and no longer serving a purpose in our lives. We toss out those old clothes, clean the house, and remove all that mental clutter. A fresh start!

The Artemis Plan

What’s up everyone?

The Artemis Plan is NASA’s Lunar Exploration Program Overview, and it was written in September, 2020. The document itself is 74 pages. I wanted to read through the whole thing, but I was so busy today, and I ended up skimming through it.

That’s okay though. Here are some highlights.

  • Suppliers and small businesses across America have made contributions to ensure the success of The Artemis Program
  • You might not be aware, but for the last 20 years, humans have continuously lived and worked aboard the International Space Station 250 miles above Earth, preparing for the day we move farther into the solar system.
  • Humans will travel 250,000 miles to the Moon
  • It is 140 million miles to Mars from the Moon
  • The main goal here is for us to get to Mars. First the Moon, and then to Mars.
  • 2024 is not an arbitrary date. It is the most ambitious date possible, and our success at the Moon, and later, at Mars, will be grounded in our national goals and robust capabilities.
  • The sooner we get to the Moon, the sooner we get American astronauts to Mars.

7 Steps between 2021 and 2024

  • 2021- the first Commercial Lunar Payload Services delivery (CLPS); 16 instruments will be sent to the lunar service, which will pave the way for human explorers.
  • Viper; Golf- Cart-Sized rover will be the first to investigate lunar polar soil samples
  • CAPSTONE CubeSat; small satellite will be the first spacecraft to enter the lunar Near Rectilinear Halo Orbit-the future home of the Gateway
  • Artemis 1; un-crewed maiden flight
  • PPE & HALO Launch; Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) & Habitation And Logistics Outpost (HALO) makeup the first pieces of the Gateway. NASA and the European Space Agency will conduct early characterization of the deep space environment.
  • Artemis 2; 10-day crewed test flight. NASA astronauts will set the record for the farthest human travel from Earth. Validation of deep space communication and navigation systems.
  • 2024- Artemis 3; Orion and its crew will once again travel to the Moon boarding the Human Landing System (HLS) that will bring the first woman and next man to the lunar surface.

As you can imagine, there’s a ton of information in this document, but that’s pretty much how it’s going down over the next four years. It’s going to be awesome to see all this play out.

Alright people, have a wonderful night.

Ground Control to Major Tom; We’re Going to the Moon

I am beyond stoked to share this information. According to NASA’s Artemis Plan, NASA will land two humans, one man and one woman on the Moon by 2024. Their mission is to continue exploring the lunar surface, establish sustainable exploration by the end of the decade, and use whatever information they gather for a future trip to Mars.

Can you imagine if their primary objective is to have children on the Moon? What if they’re sending a man and a woman there to start a whole new race? I digress, but shit man, who knows.

Any who, on July 20th of this year it will be exactly 52 years since the United States’ Apollo 11 landed on the Moon. The significance of this event back in 1969 was that Apollo 11 was the first crewed mission. That’s right! The United States is the only country to successfully put humans on the Moon. Between 1969 and 1972 there were six crewed missions to the Moon.

It will amazing to say there was a Moon landing during our lifetime, and for those who were around for the first, you’ll be doubly excited. I’m going to read through The Artemis Plan in its entirety, and I’ll get back to you with all the juicy details.
