It’s a Tug of War Between the Sun and Pluto

July 17, 2025

At 8:30 p.m., there was a lot of stress in the chart between the Sun, Pluto, and the Moon.

As you can see from my fabulous drawing, the horizontal axis connecting the ascendent and descendent run across the chart from the 28th degree of Capricorn to the 28th degree of Cancer. The opposition between those two points is natural.

However, four degrees below the ascendent is Pluto on the 2nd degree of Aquarius, and three degrees below the descendent is the Sun on the 25th degree of Cancer.

So, there’s an opposition between Pluto in Aquarius in the First House, and the Sun in Cancer in the Sixth House. The opposition is an aspect of tension, and for the two planets involved, it’s like a tug of war as both pull in opposite directions.

Oppositions almost always cause us to choose between one force or the other because we cannot have it both ways.

Pluto is the God of Emotional Encountering and the Eliminator. It’s a planet of tremendous power, and sitting so close to the ascendent like that, his energy will be influential right now.

The First House is the House of Self, it represents us personally, and Aquarius is the outgoing and friendly air sign representing intellect and humanitarianism.

With Aquarius we’re possibly dealing with large groups of people, and possible social movements. There’s going to be deep emotional experiences coming in through Pluto in Aquarius in the First House as we may or may not identify personally with such groups. These are the types of emotional experiences that motivate us to take action or make immediate changes in our lives. Aquarius brings the world’s stage and the collective to a house that would otherwise be personal or individualistic in nature.

We might be quick to pick up a sign and protest for what we believe in, or we might shun the groups representing what we don’t believe in. We’re getting in where we fit in, learning, and making the most out of our experiences. Pluto puts all the options on the table. Are you going to be a murderer? Are you going to be the CEO of a large corporation? An emperor? A Dictator? Are you going to exploit the group for personal gain, or is your heart sincerely down for the cause?

Pluto has a way of eliminating what no longer works, and he seems to do it in a way no one notices.

On the opposite side of all this, we have the Sun. The Sun represents our will, vitality, virility, dignity, warmth, and the force that gives life to everything around us. It’s our soul, the king in us, and the path of destiny.

The Sixth House deals with health, service, and work, and Cancer is the sign of loyalty, protection, and nurturing.

In the Sixth House, the Sun is putting a spotlight on issues close to home. It’s almost like we’re being forced to choose between the small town and the familiar stuff close to home that we’re used to, or taking a real chance at making your mark on the world.

Where does your loyalty lie? Maybe it’s time to let the larger issues of the world go, since they’re not directly affecting us, and turn our focus on the things close to home that are.

Health and faith. If you’re healthy, and if your beliefs are strong, you can go a long way. Conquering the world and fighting for the cause might be appealing now if you have both, but the real treasures you seek might be closer to home than you think.

Both, Pluto in Aquarius in the First House, and the Sun in Cancer in the Sixth House are being blocked by the Moon in Aries in the Third House.

We might not be getting the support from family members that we thought we would. Fighting and arguing with aunts and uncles could be draining us in the heat of this summer. Transportation could be an issue, and so could communications. Aries is the fiery sign of war and aggressions.

Think before you react to someone or something. Just take a second. The Moon in Aries could be a blessing, but it’s conflicting with the agendas of Pluto and the Sun. All is not lost however, because the obstacles presented in the square, give us the greatest opportunities to learn and grow.

Right now, it appears as if we need to make a choice and then deal with whatever comes from that decision, but a choice must be made.
