Balancing Polarities

April 8, 2026

Friends, fans, and followers, good evening!

When we’re discussing the balancing of polarities in astrology, there’s something interesting that is never taken into consideration, and for the most part, I suppose it’s just something that has gone unnoticed.

In astrology, the word polarity or polarities is used to bring attention to the fact that we’re dealing with two signs, two planets, or two houses that are aligned in opposition to one another. This is where we get “polar opposites” from, but I’ve also heard some people use term duality. The use of duality wouldn’t be totally wrong, however, for me personally in this situation, I prefer the usage of polarity over duality because dual can often be misinterpreted or misunderstood as belonging to the same thing. Case in point, dual doesn’t always mean opposite.

When the term polarity is used, there’s no mistaking the fact that you’re dealing with oppositions-two completely different things that are separate from one another.

Now that we’ve covered that, let’s talk about the astrology. When you look at an astrology wheel that has all the signs in their natural house positions (Aries in the First House, Taurus in the Second House, Gemini in the Third House, etc.), you’ll notice that oppositions are set. Fire signs always oppose Air signs, and Water signs always oppose Earth signs. Always.

The interesting thing here is that opposites in their widely known or commonly understood sense has gone out the window because all Air signs and all Fire signs are masculine, and all Water signs and all Earth signs are feminine.

Think about it.

Opposites usually involve hot and cold, light and dark, male and female, and positive and negative. If two signs oppose one another and both are positive, then what does “balancing the polarities” mean? What are we attempting to balance, and more importantly, can it even be done?

Well, this is where we get into the depth of astrology, astrological concepts, and the connection between astrology and spirituality.

Let’s take a look at Gemini and Sagittarius.

Gemini occupies the astrological Third House and Sagittarius occupies the Ninth House. House Nine and House Three oppose one another and the signs that rule them do as well.

Gemini and Sagittarius are both positive/masculine. In this sense, they’re not opposite at all. They’re the same because they’re both positive/masculine, but something deeper needs to be understood here before moving forward, and that is that Air and Fire are both positive/masculine.

Gemini is the Air sign, and Sagittarius is the Fire sign, and it’s the elements they represent that make them different, but ultimately, they’re apart of the same thing.

What we’re attempting to do is balance or bring into harmony, two different aspects of the same thing.

Air represents intellect, and Fire represents emotions. When we say we’re balancing the polarity between Gemini and Sagittarius, we’re talking about the intellect and emotions of our masculine side.

The next question obviously would be, “Well, what’s our masculine side?”

Our head. The mind.

Here’s the secret connection;

Father, God, Lord/Masculine/Air and Fire/Emotion and Intellect

Mother, Goddess, Lady/Feminine/Water and Earth/Intuition and Senses

In astrology, “the balancing of the polarities” is about balancing the different aspects of both the masculine and feminine within, so that both can be brought into balance with one another as the mind connects with the heart.
