Moon Scope: Capricorn Hosts the First New Moon of 2026

January 18, 2026

For a very long time, we've been feeling this way:

We're standing outside, and we're holding a very heavy object over our heads. At first, things were great and it was easy to do, but as time went on, we got tired. Our legs and arms began to shake, and for the very first time, doubt was the overwhelming feeling. We were clearly struggling and we needed help, but for some reason, we were invisible to the people in the world around us. Every day, they walked past us laughing and conversing with one another-never once looking in our direction.
While we struggled to keep this heavy object over our heads, which by the way had eventually brought us down to one knee, the people around us never got involved. So, we accepted our fate. "This object is going to crush me, and no one even cares."

Then, one day, two people decided to stop. "Hey, let us give you a hand with that," they said.

Good morning! Well, it’s Sunday, January 18th and the ground here in the eastern United States is covered with snow. Ah yes, it’s the winter and Capricorn, which is where this current lunar cycle begins anew, happens to be one of three winter signs.

So, this evening at approximately four o’clock, the Moon will be on the 29th degree of Capricorn in the Seventh House. There’s actually a lot going on there in the Seventh House, and it’s kind of a cluster “you know what” as the moon shifts into a conjunction with the Sun, Mercury, Mars, Venus, Pluto, and the Goddess Astraea.

That’s lot of energy concentrated in a relatively small area because if you look at the chart, you can see that all of those planets are between the 26th degree of Capricorn and the 3rd degree of Aquarius. Without a doubt, the first new moon of 2026 is going to be a powerful one.

The new moon is obviously a time of new beginnings, but to say the same thing in a little bit of a different way, it’s a great time to start something whether it’s something completely new or something you’ve been putting off for whatever reason. The new moon is an excellent time to meditate, and from a ritualistic standpoint, remember, intent is everything.

The best way to start fresh is through honesty and being truthful. I can’t think of a better way to begin something than by laying all the cards out on the table, and it’s quite possible that this has everything to do with us personally. Sometimes, we need to be honest with ourselves.

In the Seventh House of Partnerships, the Moon is getting a lot of resistance from Jupiter in Cancer in the Twelfth House, and there’s both a good side and a bad side to what I’m seeing here. The bad side is that our relationships, whether they’re personal or business, are blocked from the type of abundance, growth, and luck that only the King of the Gods can offer us, but that’s okay. Some things just aren’t meant to be.

The good side to this is that we’re in the driver seat and in full control over what transpires during the next two weeks. The Crab that symbolizes Cancer has a tendency to retreat and hide when facing danger or uncertain situations, so I must ask; when it comes to partnerships or relationships in general, are you playing it safe? Humans love comfort, and sometimes, we’ll do anything to preserve and maintain our comfort zones, even if it means retreating and hiding.

It’s a brand-new new year and a new lunar cycle is beginning now, the very first of the new year as a matter of fact, and the Universe is presenting us with an opportunity that we haven’t had in a very long time-some of us never. If you’re willing to step out of the shadows, if you’re willing to leave comfort and safety behind, and if you’re brave and confident enough to face the world as you are right now then you can step in flow with the energy of Universe.

There aren’t too many people who are capable understanding that concept, but life on this planet in this galaxy and in this universe, well, it’s like a cosmic dance and mastery over yourself and the world around you allows you to move in rhythm.

Now, as you begin to lay those cards out on the table and become honest with yourself, you’re going to realize that you have boundaries. Not all authority is good authority, and you don’t have to accept the unacceptable. Through the confidence you have in yourself, and perhaps, the security and support you have from another person, you now have the courage to refuse. Your refusal to comply with something finally balances the scales.

This is wonderful, but you might see it another way. You might think you’ve ruined something or that you’re going to be in a far worse situation. You’re going to question yourself and you might even accuse someone close to you for ruining your life. For a brief time, you’re going to wish you retreated, played it safe, and remained in the shadows, but you couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Moon’s sextile to the Midheaven on the 2nd degree of Aries, which is also where the Asteroid Goddess Hebe is located, reveals proof of an invigorating, lively, and almost youthful feeling that we haven’t felt since we were kids or in the prime of our lives! Through the ancient Greek Goddess, Hebe, we almost feel like breaking down and crying tears of joy, because my friends, the Universe has finally softened up, and it’s showing forgiveness and mercy.

It’s okay to show emotions, and it’s okay to cry. You’re going to want to show some appreciation and express gratitude, but it’s all you. You’re discipline, your determination, and your ability to maintain consistency is what got you to this point. You never gave up.

During the next two weeks, patience wins out. Be present and be in the moment for every conversation you have. That not only helps you, but it also helps the person you’re talking to as well.

Capricorn is the sign of prudence, and since the new moon is so close to the Aquarius border, we must guard against aloofness and unpredictability.

Now’s not the time to go rouge, and despite how tempting it may be, rebelliousness is not the way forward. You’re a good person, and the people around you are starting to see that. It’s been a long time coming, but act like you’ve been there before (if that’s possible).

The dark side of the Capricorn Moon can manifest as pessimism, but the sextile connecting the Moon to the Midheaven requires total peace and optimism. If you feel yourself becoming opinionated and petty, take a step back and regroup. You got this.

The first new moon of 2026 is illuminating the astrological Seventh House of Partnerships and Relationships, and that’s where our focus will be until the 1st of February. This could mean marriage, the signing of contracts, competition in business, friendships, and love affairs. This is about reinforcing the good connections we already have and letting go of those that no longer work for us. People grow apart; it’s just the way life is.

There’s something to be said about the company we keep, and it looks as if the Universe is giving us every opportunity to begin 2026 in strong and supportive relationships with people who truly care about us.

Have a wonderful day!

Totally Wrapping Your Brain Around the Lunar Cycle

June 3, 2025

I’ve been practicing astrology for almost two decades, and I’ve been writing my Moon Scope articles for a few years now, but it wasn’t until last week that the lunar cycle finally made sense to me!

Last week!

Lol, I can’t even believe it.

So, I had this full vision of the Moon turning during its cycle, going from one phase to another.

What I didn’t realize, and believe me when I tell you that this is the key to the whole thing, the Moon cycles through the zodiac in order sign by sign.

You see, the lunar cycle seems confusing because the moon moves really fast through the zodiac. It’s in and out of a sign in only a few days, so it feels almost impossible to catch up with it.

Totally wrapping your brain around the lunar cycle requires two things. You need to know the lunar phases and you need to simplify things.

If you know the phases like the back of your hand, then you can simplify things if you have the key, and I just gave you the key. The key is that the Moon cycles through the zodiac in order sign by sign.

I’m going to explain, and what magically happens at the end of this is that you catch up with the lunar cycle. Suddenly, everything slows down, it makes sense, and you can wrap your brain around it.

As an example, let’s say we have a brand-new moon in Aries.

There’s a new moon in Aries on the night of January 1st. On the second night, the door opens and a little bit of light shines in. On the second night, the new moon is in its waxing crescent phase, and it’s illuminated 1%. The cycle begins.

The moon will continue turning, it will continue to get brighter, and it will move in and out of the preceding zodiac signs (Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and Virgo) in two or two and a half days.

This is where things always get confusing and the moon gets aways from us, but not this time. We have the key, and we can simplify things.

We know the new moon was in Aries, and therefore, when the moon culminates, becomes full, and is 100% illuminated, it will be in opposition to where it was when it was new.

It’s like clockwork; every time without fail.

So, if the new moon was in Aries, then you know it’s going to be in Libra when it’s full.

No matter what happens between the waxing crescent and the full moon, and no matter how confusing things seem to get, you’ll always be one step ahead because you know the full moon will be in opposition to where it was when it was new. One step ahead; that’s how you have to rationalize this.

This will get confusing again between the full moon phase and the last night of the waning crescent, but don’t worry. You have the key!

No matter what happens between the full moon and the last night of the waning crescent, no matter how confusing things seem or how far behind you feel, you know that without fail the door on this current lunar cycle will close exactly where it opened!

The lunar cycle will come complete and make one full circle. It will close out exactly where it opened and began before turning new again.

And, when the moon turns new again, you know it’s going to be a new moon in Taurus because our key tells us the moon cycles through the zodiac in order sign by sign.

There it is! I hope this makes sense to you, and if it doesn’t immediately, then it will at some point.

You have to understand the lunar cycle to be like a revolving door.

The cycle itself is a highly organized self-sufficient filing system. It’s a story structure with a beginning, a middle, and an end. It opens, and it closes creating, destroying, and preserving a portion of time.

Once you’re capable of totally wrapping your brain around the lunar cycle, the real fun begins. You can really get into flow and in sync, manipulate, and create.

The law of three (trinity)

The law of three is one of the primary laws of mysticism. Three forces are present when an event begins, and three forces are necessary for creation.

Creation, destruction, preservation.

It’s very simple.

If the new moon is in Cancer, the waxing crescent will be in Cancer, the full moon will be in Capricorn, the waning crescent will be in Cancer, and the next new moon will be in Leo.
