According to my research, the Galactic Center is a supermassive black hole located at approximately 26 or 27 degrees in the astrological sign of Sagittarius. (Please keep in mind astrology and astronomy seem similar, but they are not. The location of real constellations observed by astronomers do not always coincide with astrological signs or houses).

The research says the Galactic Center is located in the Sagittarius Constellation, and it just so happens, I guess, the GC is also located in the same astrological sign.

The GC is also called the barycenter, and it’s the center of our Milky Way Galaxy. It powers the compact radio source Sagittarius A, which is almost exactly at the galactic rotational center. Spread throughout the galaxy are intergalactic radio sources located in Taurus A, Virgo A, and Centaurus A. (This is my first question, “are these radio sources natural, do they allow for intelligent communication between different locations in the galaxy, and if so, who uses them?”

Earth, the planet on which we live, is apart of a solar system. Our solar system is located in the Milky Way Galaxy, and our galaxy is one of many in the Universe. Planet Earth is one of arguably nine planets that orbit the sun, hence the name solar system, and the sun orbits the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It takes our sun between 200 and 250 million years to orbit the Galactic Center.

The Sun rotates on its axis also. One rotation takes approximately 27 (earth) days or 648 hours. That means one Sunday or day on the sun lasts for 648 hours, and the sun makes approximately 13 rotations in one earth year.

This, I find extremely interesting because there are similarities with the moon. A moon cycle takes about 28/29 days. In a month, lets say January, there is usually one new moon and one full moon with the days in between spent ascending towards full light or descending to complete darkness. In a year there are approximately 12 new moons and 12 full moons-that is one of each per month. In the time it takes the sun to make one rotation on its axis, the moon also completes one full cycle.

Hello Friends, What Are Those 3 Stars?

I’ve felt really distant from my blog lately, and so I wanted to say hello and give all my readers and friends a warm welcome. Speaking of warm, we’ve had quite an “Indian Summer.” I’m kind of kicking myself in the ass for taking my air conditioner out of the window, but I thought October 1st was a reasonable date considering how cold the nights have been.

I don’t know how many of you keep up with basketball, but I read yesterday Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has walked way from the NBA and a boat load of cash. Irving refused to get vaccinated, and basically that’s what it all came down to. Get vaccinated and play, or refuse and don’t. I have a lot of respect for Irving after making this decision because here’s a man who walked from fame, money, the NBA-all of it, for what he believed in. He has a higher purpose in life and he knows it. Good luck Kyrie Irving.

Monday the 11th was Columbus Day, and I was taught in school that Christopher Columbus discovered America. When I got older I realized there was a great possibility he didn’t, and the evidence was overwhelming. I have a book in my personal collection that claims America was discovered at least a half a century before Columbus even stepped foot on the continent. The things we learned in history class in school were all taught from a book, and as time goes on people research and challenge those historical topics, but I must be honest, it seems like once something is accepted into the text book, it’s often difficult to have that content changed.

Did anyone look up at the sky last night?

That bright ball of light is the Moon, but if you look closely, you can see two small white stars above and diagonal from the moon. There’s a third star but it’s faint. This picture was taken with my cell phone camera. The brighter of the two stars is on the left. If you look closely below that star about 3/4 of an inch and a little to the left, you’ll see the third star.

I have no idea what these three stars are, but I would love to know.

The Artemis Plan

What’s up everyone?

The Artemis Plan is NASA’s Lunar Exploration Program Overview, and it was written in September, 2020. The document itself is 74 pages. I wanted to read through the whole thing, but I was so busy today, and I ended up skimming through it.

That’s okay though. Here are some highlights.

You might not be aware, but for the last 20 years, humans have continuously lived and worked aboard the International Space Station 250 miles above Earth, preparing for the day we move farther into the solar system.
Humans will travel 250,000 miles to the Moon
It is 140 million miles to Mars from the Moon
The main goal here is for us to get to Mars. First the Moon, and then to Mars.
2024 is not an arbitrary date. It is the most ambitious date possible, and our success at the Moon, and later, at Mars, will be grounded in our national goals and robust capabilities.
The sooner we get to the Moon, the sooner we get American astronauts to Mars.

7 Steps between 2021 and 2024

2021- the first Commercial Lunar Payload Services delivery (CLPS); 16 instruments will be sent to the lunar service, which will pave the way for human explorers.
Viper; Golf- Cart-Sized rover will be the first to investigate lunar polar soil samples
CAPSTONE CubeSat; small satellite will be the first spacecraft to enter the lunar Near Rectilinear Halo Orbit-the future home of the Gateway
Artemis 1; un-crewed maiden flight
PPE & HALO Launch; Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) & Habitation And Logistics Outpost (HALO) makeup the first pieces of the Gateway. NASA and the European Space Agency will conduct early characterization of the deep space environment.
Artemis 2; 10-day crewed test flight. NASA astronauts will set the record for the farthest human travel from Earth. Validation of deep space communication and navigation systems.
2024- Artemis 3; Orion and its crew will once again travel to the Moon boarding the Human Landing System (HLS) that will bring the first woman and next man to the lunar surface.

As you can imagine, there’s a ton of information in this document, but that’s pretty much how it’s going down over the next four years. It’s going to be awesome to see all this play out.
