Sun Opposite the Ascendent

October 31, 2025

This evening at 6:00 P.M. Eastern Time, the Sun in the Sixth House will oppose the Ascendent on the 12th degree of Taurus. In astrology, when a planet opposes a specific point or another planetary body, it means they’re 180 degrees apart or opposite of one another.

This is the aspect we know as the opposition, and the opposition is a powerful aspect that can manifest in our lives in many different ways.

The Sun represents our will, our creativity, and our inner drive or desire to live and be a part of life. The Sun represents a large part of our personality, and it’s the force within us that gives rise to everything around us.

The 12th degree of Taurus appears to be about wishing for more. The Sabian Symbol depicts a couple window shopping and looking for things that give substance to their desire to be known. The placement of this Ascendent is super interesting considering tonight is Halloween, and many people are going to be out, dressed in costume, and going door to door for candy.

There’s something deeper going on here though, because weather you realized it or not, everything we wear, even the Halloween costumes we decide upon, is an expression of some part deep part of us that’s begging to be known.

Why, you ask? Well, the 12th degree of Taurus happens to fall under the rulership of the Constellation, Eridanus. Eridanus was put in the heavens to commemorate Italy’s River Po-the winding current symbolizing justice. So, in a sense, this is really about justice.

In Scorpio on the 8th degree in the Sixth House, the Sun sits in opposition to the 12th degree of Taurus, and this could play out in such a way that we find ourselves in a stressful situation needing to make a choice, which almost always results in letting go of something.

The process of healing begins immediately once we become aware of something, and these deep-dark parts of our soul and our being that come to light through our personal desire to wish for more, move from the depths of the subconscious mind into the everyday awakened mind. This is a very Sixth House thing, and that’s exactly where the Sun is.

It’s not a secret anymore that we lived many lives before this current incarnation, but the Sun encourages us to not get too carried away with who we once were. Bringing your awareness to a part of your being that’s begging to be healed in name of justice is necessary, but remember, there’s no moment in time that’s more important than the current one.

Today, this evening, on this Halloween, you might suddenly become aware that you were once the ruler of nation, a mercenary hired to kill, or someone who was burned at the stake. You’ll become aware of it, and then the healing process will begin. Enjoy it, talk about it, and then let it go.

It’s a Tug of War Between the Sun and Pluto

July 17, 2025

At 8:30 p.m., there was a lot of stress in the chart between the Sun, Pluto, and the Moon.

As you can see from my fabulous drawing, the horizontal axis connecting the ascendent and descendent run across the chart from the 28th degree of Capricorn to the 28th degree of Cancer. The opposition between those two points is natural.

However, four degrees below the ascendent is Pluto on the 2nd degree of Aquarius, and three degrees below the descendent is the Sun on the 25th degree of Cancer.

So, there’s an opposition between Pluto in Aquarius in the First House, and the Sun in Cancer in the Sixth House. The opposition is an aspect of tension, and for the two planets involved, it’s like a tug of war as both pull in opposite directions.

Oppositions almost always cause us to choose between one force or the other because we cannot have it both ways.

Pluto is the God of Emotional Encountering and the Eliminator. It’s a planet of tremendous power, and sitting so close to the ascendent like that, his energy will be influential right now.

The First House is the House of Self, it represents us personally, and Aquarius is the outgoing and friendly air sign representing intellect and humanitarianism.

With Aquarius we’re possibly dealing with large groups of people, and possible social movements. There’s going to be deep emotional experiences coming in through Pluto in Aquarius in the First House as we may or may not identify personally with such groups. These are the types of emotional experiences that motivate us to take action or make immediate changes in our lives. Aquarius brings the world’s stage and the collective to a house that would otherwise be personal or individualistic in nature.

We might be quick to pick up a sign and protest for what we believe in, or we might shun the groups representing what we don’t believe in. We’re getting in where we fit in, learning, and making the most out of our experiences. Pluto puts all the options on the table. Are you going to be a murderer? Are you going to be the CEO of a large corporation? An emperor? A Dictator? Are you going to exploit the group for personal gain, or is your heart sincerely down for the cause?

Pluto has a way of eliminating what no longer works, and he seems to do it in a way no one notices.

On the opposite side of all this, we have the Sun. The Sun represents our will, vitality, virility, dignity, warmth, and the force that gives life to everything around us. It’s our soul, the king in us, and the path of destiny.

The Sixth House deals with health, service, and work, and Cancer is the sign of loyalty, protection, and nurturing.

In the Sixth House, the Sun is putting a spotlight on issues close to home. It’s almost like we’re being forced to choose between the small town and the familiar stuff close to home that we’re used to, or taking a real chance at making your mark on the world.

Where does your loyalty lie? Maybe it’s time to let the larger issues of the world go, since they’re not directly affecting us, and turn our focus on the things close to home that are.

Health and faith. If you’re healthy, and if your beliefs are strong, you can go a long way. Conquering the world and fighting for the cause might be appealing now if you have both, but the real treasures you seek might be closer to home than you think.

Both, Pluto in Aquarius in the First House, and the Sun in Cancer in the Sixth House are being blocked by the Moon in Aries in the Third House.

We might not be getting the support from family members that we thought we would. Fighting and arguing with aunts and uncles could be draining us in the heat of this summer. Transportation could be an issue, and so could communications. Aries is the fiery sign of war and aggressions.

Think before you react to someone or something. Just take a second. The Moon in Aries could be a blessing, but it’s conflicting with the agendas of Pluto and the Sun. All is not lost however, because the obstacles presented in the square, give us the greatest opportunities to learn and grow.

Right now, it appears as if we need to make a choice and then deal with whatever comes from that decision, but a choice must be made.

Uranus Transit

As you know, I’ve been reading Barbara Hand Clow’s book, Chiron Rainbow Bridge Between the Inner and Outer Planets, and in the book, Clow talks about three major transits that occur during our lives; the Chiron square, the Saturn return, and the Uranus opposition to itself. I do agree with that.

These are the times when it’s crucial to put in the self-work. My Uranus opposition to itself is coming up so I’m going to break that down, and hopefully, by me doing that, it will make it easier for you to do the same if you happen to be in the same situation. Let me start by explaining what the hell this all means, because I know there are a lot of people who are interested in astrology and would like to follow it, but find it difficult to learn on their own.

My interest for astrology came out of nowhere back in 2007, but I can’t sit here and say I’ve been feverishly studying it since. It’s been more of a side thing or a hobby that I study, practice, and put to use in my spare time. The more you live the more you understand so it’s best to take astrology in stride-not to mention the system is so vast in information that it can be overwhelming and confusing. Take your time with it.

In my natal chart, Uranus is in the 5th house on the 25th degree of Scorpio. An opposition is when you have two planets directly across from one another; an opposition is an aspect of 180 degrees. The Uranus opposition occurs around the age of 42, but it could be later because Uranus goes retrograde and that slows the transit or it’s path around the zodiac. When it finally reaches opposition to itself, it will be directly across from where it was when you were born, or its position in your birth chart. For me, that’s Taurus 25 degrees just past the 11th house cusp.

Uranus in Taurus Analysis

Taurus is the sign of people who revel in the pleasures of life. It’s about security, comfort, and the warmth of relaxing in the home environment. It’s care. The flip side to this is that Taurus can be bullish, willful and stubborn, but not because they’re assholes. The issue is that Taurus is kind, devoted, and loyal-sometimes it hard to let things go.

Uranus is the planet of invention, rebellion, reformation, and unpredictable changes. It’s about discovery, independence, and improv. Uranus brings liberation, genius, science, originality, and breakthroughs.

As Uranus transits the fixed, feminine, and negatively energized earth sign that is Taurus, he will shake it up-house included. He will wake it up with sudden awareness and lighting insight so that the necessary changes can be made. Changes that ultimately promote growth and evolution.

Good luck!
