Moon Scope; New Lunar Cycle in Leo brings Tests and Challenges

August 9, 2026

Good evening, beloved.

Today is Sunday, August 9th, and there will be a new lunar cycle beginning in Leo on Wednesday the 12th. The current lunar cycle is coming to an end, and clear skies tonight should reveal a brilliant crescent illuminated at roughly 10%. While we are advised to take it easy and refrain from beginning anything new, we can use this time to observe and to take notice of all the things that are over, closing, done, finished, and coming to an end.

Right now, with the new lunar cycle only three days away, we have a superb grip on the picture ahead, which will probably make more sense to us once it’s coupled with our observations of the current time.

At approximately 3:52 PM, the Seventh House was occupied by both Mars (Gemini) and the Moon (Cancer). Relationships at this time might be tricky with Mars in Gemini because the communication between you and your mate has a little bit of flair to it, and if that is the case, don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions. New couples could be going through a learning phase where they’re both trying to figure one another out, and couples that have been together for a long time could be struggling with something that happened in the past.

When it comes to the past, unfortunately, the things we’ve said and the things we’ve done cannot be take back, and that’s okay because we wouldn’t be the people we are today if it wasn’t for the foundation we’ve laid throughout the years, however, if whatever you’ve done ten years ago is still being brought up and fought over, then the new moon is the perfect time for you and your mate to begin having a serious conversation. If you and your mate are fighting over something that happened many years ago, then the issue must be addressed once and for all.

There’s something else to consider here. The Moon in Cancer does indicate a bit of mystery, so we end up with a situation where we didn’t exactly lie, but we didn’t share the whole entire story either. Being secretive or evasive could be the cause of tensions now, so do everyone a favor and push all the chips to the center of the table. Don’t hide anything, and don’t hold back.

The “zero” degree of any sign is new seed energy, and we can see that Mercury is on the zero degree of Leo in the Eighth House. We just talked about Mars in Gemini, which can be interpreted as aggressive communication like yelling and arguing, and now we have Mercury entering Leo, a sign that adds ego and pride to the mixture. Since the Eight House is highlighted here, I’m just going to come right out and tell you to mind your business, especially when you’re not the topic of conversation.

Also, avoid spreading rumors and gossiping now. The Eighth House governs possessions, property, and money belonging to other people, so if you don’t know the truth about something and if you don’t have a super-credible source, then don’t speculate. Don’t just speak to speak, and don’t speak because you feel it’s your place and time to speak. If you don’t know the truth or what exactly is going on, then don’t say anything at all.

It happens. Sometimes, people know more than we do about certain topics, and when we’re in the company of these people, we should give them the floor. We don’t always have to be star or the one in the spotlight.

Jupiter is also in Leo in the Eighth House, and Leo is an excellent sign for Jupiter to be in. This indicates growth or expansion, which could be through the acquisition of property or by building off of what’s already present. It’s possible that money could be coming our way soon, and it could be from an inheritance or from an unexpected source like a lucky lottery ticket.

This growth can also be spiritual, and in the Eighth House, we might find the next twenty-nine days to be hard, taxing, and emotionally draining. Some of us are going to be tested, and yes, we’re going to be put through the fire. It’s true, because of the involvement of the Eighth House that these tests can be at the hand of someone who’s trying to see what we’re made of, capable of, or how we respond under pressure, but in all likelihood, this will be about you and the Universe.

During the new lunar cycle, some of us are going to realize that it’s not enough to say something, we must go out, put the work in, and prove it as well. As the saying goes, “If you’re going to talk the talk, then you must walk the walk.”

What I really see here, however, is an opportunity for us to prove to ourselves that we’re finally done with something. It can be anything, but whatever it is, we’ve told the people around us and those we love that we were over it and done.

The thing here is that we’re supposed to do what’s right when no one is looking. You can tell the entire world one thing, and then do the complete opposite behind closed doors. Well, now it’s time to prove to yourself that what you’ve told everyone is actually the truth. You are sincere, you are authentic, and this month, you will stand in your power.

At home, it appears to be a bumpy ride with Aries occupying the Fourth House. Things could get seriously uncomfortable during the weeks ahead and tensions could be high, so much so, that you’re actually dreaming of being somewhere else. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, believing in yourself, or having a belief, but Neptune’s presence could indicate escapism. Whatever you do, don’t look to drugs and/or alcohol to alleviate the pressure. I mentioned before that some of us are going to be tested, and as it turns out, it’s not just in our relationships with others. It’s at home as well. When you’re dealing with Fourth House matters, you’re going to want to have a clear head.

These are personal issues, and we should deal with them in full awareness. The reality at home is that we’re beginning to feel restricted or stifled, and Venus at the top of the chart indicates our longing for peace and balance. We can have what Venus is offering us in Libra, but it can’t be rushed or forced, and if heaven is the destination, then there are no shortcuts. Venus in Libra conjunct the Midheaven reveals that the help you need is outside the home. This is a delicate situation, and keep in mind that you’re not turning your back on family members or loved ones. You’re doing what’s best for you, and for that, you should be loved and supported.
