Respecting Neutrality

What’s up everyone? I hope you’re all enjoying your morning on this beautiful Sunday in August. It’s a little cool for the Summer, nevertheless, we’ll take it!

So, I just wanted to say, and I’m sure a lot of you know this already, but I always speak from a neutral standpoint. I do give my personal opinion on certain things, but of course, I never push my beliefs onto anyone. It’s your choice to agree or disagree with me, but either way, your opinions and feedback are always accepted. We welcome and truly enjoy the dialogue here between writers and readers. Thank you.

Have a wonderful day!

Pushing Forward With Sensitivity

I’m looking at this COVID-19 situation, of course, from a neutral standpoint as any American who’s weary about a government overreaching would. Do I think COVID-19 is a total hoax? No, but if you tell me 100,000 people just contracted it, I’m going to ask you to show me the test results. Hey, fool me once (911) shame on you, fool me twice, and well, you know the rest. It’s good the American People are protesting, resisting, and asking questions, and if you watch regular mainstream news, I suggest you watch a little alternate media too so you’re getting both sides of the story.

The bigger issue, however, is coming up. What do we do about school in the Fall? I was a substitute teacher until the district closed in March, so I’ve been directly affected by this. What about the future? I was enrolled at the local college pursuing a teaching certification in early childhood education, and the school is telling me no one is enrolling because of COVID-19. I might have to wait until the Spring. Again my plans are getting delayed, but that’s neither here nor there.

What should we do about the Fall?

Whatever we decide to do, the time is coming for us as a people to make some important decisions regarding our future, and school is just one issue. Have you ever seen that situation where there’s a check-in booth at a public place, like a park, where people tell you you’re required to make a reservation and wear a mask if you want to enter the park? Well that’s illegal. I just found out yesterday that there is no law requiring you to wear a mask. It’s your choice, and you don’t have to make a reservation to go to the park.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting how the government is turning people against each other, and that’s what’s making this situation so difficult. I’m going to try to simplify things.

We need a call for common sense, and a return to normalcy. We need to push forward without being insensitive. I’m going to tell you all something right now, we are in this mess with COVID-19 for a reason. We are being tested, and the more I think about this the more I’m realizing how difficult returning to normal is actually going to be. It’s going to require acceptance, and then it’s going to require a complete coming together, a show understanding, empathy, and common sense.

  1. The government was created by us, for us. We need to take control of the situation. The people need to take control.
  2. Acceptance. If the Coronavirus is here to stay, we need to build an immunity to it like every other virus. Like the flu, there will be casualties, and like the flu, there have been casualties. If you’re scared stay home. If you’re sick, stay home.
  3. I’m not afraid, and I know there are a lot of other men and women teachers out here who aren’t afraid. It’s time for us to open school.
  4. What do we do if we open school and everyone gets sick? Just so you know, 92% of people who contracted COVID-19, got better and lived. That’s a real statistic. You are NOT going to drop dead if you contract COVID-19.
  5. Respect one another. I know this works both ways, there are angry people lashing out and attacking people for not wearing a mask, and there are angry people lashing out and attacking people for wearing the mask. The mask is a choice! The government cannot force you to wear a mask and they cannot force medical care on you. THE GOVERNMENT ISN’T FORCING YOU TO WEAR A MASK, YOUR NEIGHBOR IS. IT’S YOUR NEIGHBOR. WE’RE POLICING EACH OTHER. THE GOVERNMENT STARTED THE MESS AND THEN BACKED OUT OF IT. There is NO LAW that says you have to wear a mask. All those signs you see on store windows are at the request of the owners. Stop blaming and using the government for why you’re power tripping.
  6. Respect one another.

As you can see, there is nothing stopping us from returning to normalcy except us. It’s up to us. Let’s go. What are we waiting for?

Can you see what’s going on here? The mask is a choice. Think about it. Oh my god, the individual growth that can be made right now is off the charts. As for the people, and the collective-it’s evolutionary.

I Know I’ve seen You Somewhere Before

There’s a gas station near my house that I visit frequently because of the convenient store on the premises. There’s also a really cool gas pump on the property. It has a unique look, but it’s one all to familiar. So whenever I visit this gas station, I stand there looking at the pump trying to remember where I’ve seen it

And then it came to me.

ROB the Nintendo Robot Buddy.
The Gas Station Pump!

How funny is that! I think it’s safe to assume the kerosene gas pump design was inspired by the 1985 Nintendo Robot. Pretty cool.

In August, 57 years ago

“I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

-Martin Luther King Jr.

Today is August 1st, and it was during the wonderful month of August, fifty-seven years ago, that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech in Washington D.C. The speech came at the end of a march on the capital that included two-hundred and fifty thousand black and white Americans.

In June, 1964, the Civil Rights Act was passed and signed into law by Lyndon Johnson. In October of the same year, King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

I always thought it was interesting how slaves were freed in America some time after the Civil War, and the issues concerning civil rights didn’t get resolved until almost one-hundred years later in the 1960’s, but to my surprise, I just discovered there was a Civil Rights Act passed then too, it was called the Civil Rights Act of 1866. The Act of 1866 denied the states the power to restrict the rights of free slaves. The bill was vetoed by another Johnson, but Republicans had the votes to override the veto.

Interesting and confusing all at the same time! During the 1960’s it was the Civil Rights Act and Lyndon Johnson, and in the 1860’s it was the Civil Rights Act and Andrew Johnson.

Same Act, same decade, different Johnson.

I hope y’all are doing well and staying healthy. Thank you so much for reading and following along. Have a wonderful Saturday night, and a blessed day tomorrow.

♌ Happy birthday to all you Leos out there!

Do You Remember Craigslist?

There was a time when Craigslist had the reputation for being one of the more reliable and heavily depended on websites for all your needs. It kind of took the place of the want-ads section in your Sunday newspaper.

Recently, I’ve been going back to Craigslist for things like room and apartment rentals and jobs, but it’s not the site I remember fifteen years ago. What happened?

On several occasions, people did follow up and respond to me, but their responses were as follows, “That room you were asking about, where’d you see it? That room was rented weeks ago, I didn’t even know it was still showing”

The same thing happened with apartments, and forget about dating. Dating and meeting new people was one of the best features Craigslist had to offer, but they did away with it completely. The only thing that’s really left is Missed Connections, but there’s no guarantee the person you’re trying to reach will even see what you’re writing-it’s basically a shot in the dark.

I’m not going to write an entire article about the deterioration of Craigslist over the years, I think you understand what I’m saying, and if you use the site yourself, then I’m sure you have your opinions, but instead, I’d like to ask Craigslist to come back.

Craigslist, so many people used your site and they loved it. I don’t know what caused the changes over the years, but if you could get yourself back to old form that would be great!

“In God We Trust”

How many times have you looked at the back of a bill, and wondered to yourself, “Why does it say, In God We Trust, on the back of our money?” Why do we even care at all? Well, when something doesn’t make sense to us, we question it, and what makes this so confusing is actually another saying that claims money is the root to all evil.

In God We Trust on the $5.

So then, we’re confronted with this perplexing question, “If money is the root of all evil, than why does it say In God We Trust on the back of our money?” After all, we do associate money with evil, hell, and the devil. What’s going on? In February, 1862, the United States Congress passed the Legal Tender Act to help finance the Civil War, and it was at that time, under the Legal Tender Act, the motto was added to money. Interesting right?

In God We Trust on the backside of the $1 bill as seen with the pyramid and the All-Seeing Eye.

I’m going out on a limb here, and I’m going to suggest all the questions we have today, and all the mysteries surrounding the motto and the money stem from Theodore Roosevelt, one of the most religiously moral and Christian-minded presidents this country has ever seen. Roosevelt was a constitutional conservative, and he not only believed putting God on money was sacrilege, but he also believed the motto was unconstitutional because it established a religion, which opposed the First Amendment.

When you take into consideration where we’re at today with digital currency, there’s no doubt about the amazing history American money has!

Norma McCorvey

Who the heck is Norma McCorvey? She was a woman who lived in Texas, and out of her desire to protect her identity, was called Jane Roe. Is this starting to sound familiar? If I said Roe v. Wade, you’d probably say, “Hmm, that sounds familiar.” Well, Norma McCorvey was Jane Roe. In the early seventies she became pregnant and desired an abortion, but legally she couldn’t obtain one in the state of Texas.

Without a choice, she gave birth, and eventually put her child up for adoption. Then, she brought a law suit against Dallas County District Attorney, Henry Wade, and there you have it. Roe v. Wade is a landmark case, and there’s no other issue in modern America that’s as emotionally and politically charged as abortion rights. Of course, this case made it to the Supreme Court, and most Americans believed abortion was a matter of private choice-

a decision fit for a woman to make, but they received harsh push back from conservatives. The conservatives “pro-life” movement gained strength by the time the 1980’s came around. In 1998, Norma McCorvey converted to Christianity, and Henry Wade died in 2001. Many people don’t know this, but Henry Wade, the prosecutor sued in this case, prosecuted Jack Ruby, the man known for killing Lee Harvey Oswald.

Amazing Coincidence!

Last night I reconnected with an old friend, and we talked on the phone for hours, almost until the sun came up. Finally, in a desperation attempt to salvage a few hours of sleep, I had to force myself off the phone. This morning when I woke up, I noticed a utility vehicle parked on my street.

What I found most interesting, was the license plate on this truck was from the same state as the girl who I just got off the phone with not even five hours ago. I still haven’t figured out yet if this is all just coincidence, or purposefully designed.

Think about this. You live in New Jersey, and you spend all night on the phone with someone from Idaho, then you wake up three hours later and there’s a truck from Idaho parked on your street pretty much in front of your house, and a man is doing underground utility work. Strange? You better believe it.

Anyway, I probably should at this point, give the company a little publicity.

USIC is an underground utility location and damage prevention company, and they’re located in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Why their trucks have Texas license plates I do not know, but they are located in PA.

According to the man working on the street, “It’s a fleet thing.”

Okay, whatever that means.

I remember getting a ticket when I was driving in New Jersey with Pennsylvania license plates, but apparently it’s okay for certain companies to do it, and get away with it.

Um, no buddy, I think it’s an insurance thing, but I digress.

I actually wanted to interview the worker, and do an in depth story on USIC, but he said he needed permission to do that. I don’t know, apparently, workers at USIC have taken a vow of silence?

Whatever.

Alright everyone, have a good day!

Outdated Books?

It was twelve years ago when someone bought me my first astrology book.  It was a Christmas gift, and I was so thankful.  Before the following year ended, I was hooked and totally interested in whatever this beautiful art had to offer.  As the years went and my studies grew more intense, an idea popped into my head.

I thought in order for me to learn astrology-like really learn astrology, I should probably buy books from the time when it was most widespread and popular.  Sometimes people hide information from you if they feel like you don’t need to know about it, but I wanted astrology in its rawest form.

The problem with the internet, or information on the internet, is that it can change right before your very eyes. Let’s take a site like Wikipedia for example, I love Wikipedia, but someone can go on there and change any details whenever they want.  Did you ever read something on the internet and then revisit the same article a year or two later only to find it changed or edited in some way?

Books, good old books will be around forever, and once they’re printed, they’re printed!  You can’t edit a paperback or a hardcover book, thus, the information in it, will remain as it was on the day it was published.

Why does this matter?  Well, besides for protecting your sanity, there was a statement someone made that everyone seemed to be in agreement with until recently;

“If we don’t remember our past, we’re doomed to repeat it.”

First statues, and now books.  Americans seem to be having a real problem with dealing with our past history.  React emotionally, destroy everything, and just throw it out-that’s the motto right now I guess, but burying our problems is archaic way of dealing with them.

My blog post is in response to an online article written by Madison Dapcevich, titled, “Did a Minnesota School Toss Library Books to Erase History?”

I don’t know the answer to that, and I don’t know if that was the case at all, however, I’m curious to know what the Media Specialist at Sunrise Park Middle School in White Bear, Minnesota, meant by “weeding out-outdated books.”

Can a book ever be outdated?  Maybe I’m a little bias here because of my love for books, literature, and writing in general, but I think the answer to that question is no.

A book can never be outdated-so my next question is, “What books has the Media Specialist personally decided to throw out?”

Did a Minnesota School Toss Library Books to ‘Erase History’?

Have a wonderful evening!
