English YouTube Star Dead at 24

Normally, I try not to re-post news articles, but this article, because of its deep sadness, caught my attention.

I have know idea who she is, but English YouTube star, Nicole Thea, was found dead this past Saturday morning.  Thea, who was also a London based clothing designer, was 8 months pregnant.  Her unborn son, Reign, did not survive either.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

This is such a sad story.  It seems like she had everything going for her, and at such a young age.

Dating Apps, Sites, and “Groups”

I would like to offer a piece of valuable information, and this is for both guys and girls.  Especially, those guys and girls who have been single for quiet some time.

If you’re using a dating application, a dating website, or you’ve joined a singles group on some social media platform, look at the list below:

  • Your age (Just so you know you’re both 18 or over)
  • Your name (First name so they know what to call you)
  • A picture (so they know what you look like)

That’s it.

We’re POLICING EACH OTHER!  Don’t disclose anymore information about yourself until you meet the person.  There’s no reason to.  Set a date and time to meet.  Make sure it’s during the day, and in a public place with lots of people around.

How many people are you going to tell your life story to on a website?  You might disclose your most personal information 100 times before you get one date, and you don’t even know who you’re talking to.

Bad Man Steals Good Book!

The 1615 edition of the Geneva Bible was stolen from the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh two decades ago, but it was finally recovered in April, 2019, from a Dutch museum.

Who was the culprit?

The archivist!

That’s right, a 62-year-old man named Gregory Priore, who was hired to look after the library’s expensive collection of books, maps, and other items, stole over $8 million dollars worth of stuff.  He was an employee at the library for 20 years.

Just when you think you know a guy.

In Response

20200620_180255

I was just reading through the Morning Call’s Letters and Opinion sections today as I usually do, because I think it’s really interesting to hear what people in and around the community have to say.

Sometimes it’s humorous, but I know people are upset.

I wanted to reply to the article titled, Institutional Racism Exists Today.

Jack W. Paul (We don’t even know if that’s his real name) wrote:

Blacks have been economically handicapped by being precluded from accumulating capital until fairly recently and have been denied comparable educational opportunities, initially due to “separate but equal,” and now school funding arrangements.

In addition:

If racism is to be defeated, whites need to acknowledge their complicity in this evil practice and begin meaningful reform.

I graduated from William Paterson University in 2003, and I also attended Kean University in 2005.

I think using the phrase “denied comparable educational opportunities” is not only inaccurate, but demeaning to the wonderful job that both of those schools and others like them have done to ensure people of all races and ethnic backgrounds get an education.

Also, I don’t know why you say “whites need to acknowledge.”  You say it as if only white people are prejudice, and that was offensive.  I’m not.

Yes, our country does have its fair share of racist and prejudice people, but I think we’ve made some real progress.  The NFL as of 2020 was 70% black.  The NBA as of 2015 was 74% black.

Let’s not forget real change and real progress doesn’t happen overnight, and running to the government is never the answer.  In times like we’re in right now, I think everyone needs to look within.

Courts Open, Allentown Returning

20200530_103347

Last month I went to small park in Allentown to shoot some hoops, but someone had screwed two pieces of wood together on the basketball rims to stop people from playing.

I knew or at least I heard, they were closing parks in town because of the Coronavirus, but I had no idea they were  going to stop people from shooting around.  That seemed a little extreme.

I wasn’t too angry, but I thought it was messed up that the golf courses were open and not the courts.  Before I got to the courts I passed a golf course, and I saw people having a great time.  They were laughing, slapping each other five, and calling shotgun for passenger golf cart rides.  At a time when everyone was in panic because of the virus, it appeared like everything was back to normal.  Then I arrived at the park, and I’m like what the heck is this!  Lock down!

20200620_115825

I was told the small park and the attached courts were finally reopened last week, but I went there today to see for myself.  Sometimes you just have to see things for yourself, but sure enough, the park was open and the crucifix was removed from the basketball rim.  There was even some young man shooting around and children playing on the swings.  It  was a normal day at the park, and it appears Allentown is finally returning.

Here’s something really cool I haven’t seen before.  In the park there’s a little green house containing books.  So if you’re ever at the park and you would like to just have a seat on the bench and read a book, there are several on hand.

20200620_115742      If you want to bring your kids to the park and have a story time, you can do that also.  I’m like really promoting this park for some reason, lol, but in all seriousness, it’s a pretty cool low key place, and it’s right in town!

Alright Everyone, Have a Wonderful Day!

If You Care

People, if you’re going to sit in your house and allow yourself to be brainwashed by the television and the internet, than you’re really doing yourself a disservice.  The media shows you exactly what they want you to see.  I’m going to repeat that.  The media shows you exactly what they want you to see.

Go out and meet the people in your community.  Shop, go have lunch, and mingle.  Meet the people who live in your town, and start forming your own opinions about people.  There are a lot of good people out there, and there’s a lot of bad people, and you know what, they come in all colors and all ethnic backgrounds.

If you’re confused then rely on this, treat people the way you would like to be treated, and if they can’t do the same or they don’t do the same then get yourself some new friends.

I just saw a post on twitter early today, where someone was complaining about their town and how shitty it is.  They said their town was filthy and dirty.  One of the best things about living in this country is that we have the power to change what we don’t like in our cities and in our states.  Instead of complaining that your city is a filthy dirty mess, organize a cleaning crew and clean it up.  You live there!

If you have a problem with something that you feel isn’t right than write your pubic officials.  Make a sign and go protest.  Let your voice be heard.

Remember, our government is by the people for the people, so please, for a second, lets stop putting all the blame on our government.

Are we going to take any responsibility?

I just read that government centers in Allentown are going to open to the public on Monday June 22nd.  This would be a good time to start attending town meetings, meet your public officials, and see what’s going on.

Alright everyone, have a wonderful day.

Lemon Water

I’m eagerly anticipating the reopening of gyms.  I joined Planet Fitness in 2018, and that was the first time in fifteen years that I had joined a gym, so as you can imagine, I was frustrated when they closed in March.

During that span of fifteen months, I got myself on this lemon water kick.  I buy the six-pack of Smart Water, that’s 6-1 Qt. bottles, and I was putting several pieces of sliced lemons in them.  The lemon definitely added flavor to the water, but after several months, I noticed my belly flattening.

There’s something about seeing results.  It motivates you in all kind of ways, and so I decided to do a little research to see what else lemon water was doing for me.

According to,

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/food-news/this-is-the-perfect-amount-of-lemon-water-you-should-drink-every-day/articleshow/75264249.cms

it’s perfectly okay and recommended to drink lemon water everyday.  Lemon water is good for the replenishment of ascorbic acid or vitamin c in our body which is important for good hair and a healthy heart.  Also, squeezing two lemons in glass and drinking that natural juice once per day first thing in the morning, can help with constipation and prevent the formation of kidney stones.

In an article written by Helen West and published on healthline.com titled “6 Evidence-Based Health Benefits of Lemons,” Helen West outlines those benefits for us, and they are:

  1. Heart Health
  2. Help Control Weight
  3. Prevent Kidney Stones
  4. Protection against anemia
  5. Reduce Cancer Risk
  6. Improve Digestive Health

Some of the findings are similar in both articles, and that’s a good thing because it further proves the legitimacy of their findings.

The next time you go to the food store, pick up some lemons.  Your body will thank you, and then, you’ll thank your body.
