KNIGHTFALL; Review

I was a little late with KNIGHTFALL, a show produced for the History Channel. The first episode aired in December, 2017, and I started purchasing episodes on Google Play in 2019, but I must say, I was hooked thereafter.

I’m not going to lie, this show has mixed reviews with the most critical pointing out certain historical inaccuracies. Others talked about quality; the show looked cheap; a low budget knockoff of something much better.

For me personally, KNIGHTFALL is amazing, and I say “is” because I’m still purchasing episodes from season 2. Unfortunately, Season 2 is the end. The final episode aired in May, 2019, and the History Channel announced their cancellation of Season 3 in May, 2020.

It’s not the newest show, but it’s still fairly new. People can argue about specifics, but I think this show captured all the important elements from a time I absolutely love. I love the Medieval/Victorian Era and everything that comes with it. Kings and Queens, the Templars, war, the struggle for territory in Europe, the Holy Grail, King Arthur, the power and influence of the church and Pope; KNIGHTFALL has it all, comingled with the shows natural plot, which by the way, is what roped me in. 👍

6:45 AM

Never have I seen a sky more beautiful. I stood outside on a frigid morning in December admiring nature’s art. This morning sky was a blend; at its highest point it was still dark. A slice of the moon’s crest and stars were still visible. At its lowest point just above a mountain top, the rising sun electrified the horizon with a thick strip of bright orange. The bright orange fade was subtle but brilliant in its becoming of a creamy pastel; and then there was the blend; an artist’s best work-simply magnificent as the creamy orange somehow blended perfectly with the still lingering darkness of the night sky. It was 6:45 AM.

Hello Everyone! Welcome.

NASA 🚀- At some point I think we discussed Perseverance (NASA’s rover) landing on Mars, but I just saw something interesting today when I clicked on a link on the NASA website. The link took me to a “Quick Facts” page where I read that one of Perseverance’s main objectives is to seek signs of ancient life. I’ve read several articles on the internet, and I’ve watched several videos discussing the possibility of humans living on Mars at one time. Someone posted a picture (I don’t know if it was real or not) of pyramids on Mars. It’s a pretty popular image obviously, and of course it raises the question-How did they get there? I never took that image seriously because you never know; it could’ve been photoshopped, but I find it interesting that NASA is using time and dollars to seek signs of ancient life so they must know something we don’t.

🎬-If you don’t know who Bernie Mac was, he was a comedian who died at age 50 in 2008. He also had his own show called, The Bernie Mac Show, he was in a handful of movies including Friday (He played Pastor Clever) and Ocean’s Eleven, and he preformed on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. So, I was watching a YouTube video the other day about his life, and he said something that resonated with me; it’s something definitely worth passing along. “I was never in competition with anyone. I always tried to be the best person I could be-within myself.” That’s it right there. For all of you out there who are trying to do something special-that’s how you get it done.

🏀NBA-The Philadelphia 76ers are in 1st place in the Eastern Conference, a half game up on the Nets. They are 27-12 overall, 17-3 at home, and they have a 5-game winning streak.

🤬Buzzfeednews.com- This website just dropped a story about the growing verbal and physical assaults directed towards Asian Americans. Largely due to the pandemic-racist scapegoating over COVID-19, 3,795 incidents have been reported between March 19, 2020, and February 28th of this year.

🏀⚾💲- According to The Boston Globe’s Mike Silverman, Lebron James is now a partner in the Fenway Sports Group. James owns an undisclosed amount of FSG shares, which makes him part owner of the Boston Red Sox!

♓♈- Currently, the sun is in the astrological sign of Pisces, but it will be entering Aries around March 20th. The suns entry in Aries usually marks the Equinox or the first day of Spring. Aries is the first cardinal sign of a given year since our calendar year begins when the sun is in Capricorn (Tropical Astrology). It goes like this-Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries (Earth, Air, Water, and Fire). We all know how important the Spring is. The Earth comes back to life, and we complete our annual Spring cleaning. Yup, it’s a new year and new signs of life spring forth during the Equinox. To stay in flow, we get rid of everything that’s now useless and no longer serving a purpose in our lives. We toss out those old clothes, clean the house, and remove all that mental clutter. A fresh start!

Mr. Simmsmore

“The trees are bare. Look! Large tall trees with nothing on them; they look as if they could touch the sky. Fruitless, death ridden, and bare-that’s what they are. Earth has gone into its usual slumber, Winter arrives, and darkness creeps in. Under the cloak of this cold season highway men and thieves ravage villages and torment townspeople,” Mr. Simmsmore paused for a moment as the group of children he was speaking to sat quietly around a fire.

“Just last year Ms. Whitlock was nearly beaten to death for a bag of coins,” he continued. I remember that evening-oh yes, it was bitter cold outside. She hadn’t made it halfway to the village center before being robbed. Thieves nearly ripped her arm off pulling that sack from her hands.”

The children sat with their mouths open. They really didn’t know what to make of Mr. Simmsmore. He was an adult so they had a natural respect for him, but to his peers, Mr. Simmsmore was the village idiot. He was a show in himself-a legend in his own mind they’d say.

Today, however, he had the attention of the children in his clutches.

“So you see children, you must be aware during the cold months. Stay close to your parents and never wander off alone. You will never be heard from again, perhaps, if you do. Don’t ever say old Mr. Simmsmore never warned you. But let me tell you something children, things change. People change, and the seasons change. It will not be cold and dark forever. Soon, very soon, the coldness will give way to the warm Spring breeze. The trees will bare fruit once again, and Earth will come to life. For the lives we live are attuned to the world in which we live. Death, life, rebirth and living again-we go around and around. Now, go home to your parents. Run!”

The children listened. The group jumped up and sprinted off, and Mr. Simmsmore laughed to himself as he took a quick sip of Brandy from his flask.

“Damn kids-always playing in my drinking spot,” he muttered to himself.
