Our Very Own…..

The college football 2019 season is just about here, and I’m excited because……

here at Table Seven and Noozbuffet.com we have our very own College Football Playoff Ranking System.  This is extremely important because every year shit goes really good until conference championship week.

Eventually, we run into the issue of who should be playing who and who should be ranked where.  It becomes a huge mess and no one is ever really happy or confident when  the rankings come out.

Remember last season, UCF was undefeated but the polls were clearly favoring Notre Dame, and why the hell did Oklahoma State get to creep back in with 2 loses over the Buckeyes?

The noozbuffet.com College Football Top 8 Ranking System is flawless come crunch time.  We analyze, research, and in the end, were confident in how we pick the best matchups.

How the hell do we do it?  Well, that’s our secret.

Philadelphia Eagles preseason nooz

8/29/19- Tonight the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jest are playing, and this my friends, is the final preseason game of the 2019 season.  It went fast didn’t it.  This should be a game where the Eagles will fine tune things, maybe they’ll give starters a half of playing time.  Either way, the roster will be lean, mean, and set for the opener against the Redskins.

8/27/19- LB Asantay Brown was one of a long list of players cut in order for Eagles to make 53 man roster.

8/25/19- The Eagles are traveling to New Jersey to play the Jets for their final preseason game Thursday, August 29th.

8/23/19- Not that it really counts, but the Ravens beat the Eagles last night 26-15.  The Eagles are now 1-2 this preseason.

McCown looked really good.  Statistically, he completed 17 passes out of 24 attempts.  He threw two touchdowns and had zero interceptions.  That’s not bad at all.

Both teams headed into the locker room with 11:43 on the clock in the fourth quarter because of severe weather concerns.  The game was eventually called off, and that’s where it ended.

8/22/19- Tonight, preseason, Eagles vs. Ravens.  I don’t think Carson Wentz will see any game time.

8/20/19– Right now, the eagles have five quarterbacks on the roster, and one just came out of retirement.  I guess you could say the Eagles “quarterback situation” is somewhat of an emergency after losing Nate Sudfeld (broken bone on his left wrist) and Cody Kessler (concussion) in the first two preseason games.

Josh McCown, who is now 40, just came out of retirement for his 17th season.  He signed a one-year deal that could be worth up to $5 million.

The other two QB’s on roster are Carson Wentz and Clayton Thorson.

8/19/19– Preseason for the Philadelphia Eagles began this year on August 8th.  They opened with a home lose against the Tennessee Titans 27-10.  The following week the Eagles traveled to Jacksonville, and evened their record with a 24-10 win over the Jaguars.

They have two preseason games left, and that will wrap up the month of August.  They’re at home hosting the Ravens on Thursday August 22, and then they’ll travel to Jersey to play the Jets.

Official regular season play begins Sunday, September 8th.  The Eagles will play home against the Washington Redskins.

Antarctica And The Ozone

I wasn’t going to write about this, but shit man, I’m excited.  I watched a documentary about Antarctica.  It was very long, and there was a lot of information covered.  Of course, those brave people who attempted to reach the plateau from the ice shelf (coastline) were recognized as well as those actually ended up making it all the way to the South Pole at 90 degrees.

Here’s the part that got my mind racing.  There were people down there, scientist I’m sure, and they were conducting experiments.  Accidentally, someone opened a hole in the ozone layer directly over the Pole, which is pretty much the center of the icy continent.

Normally, the South Pole is -100 degrees, and it doesn’t receive strong sunlight because of it’s location.  Antarctica is completely covered with ice and snow, and the waters around the continent are 2 miles of frozen depth.  I don’t think the hole that was opened was that a big, obviously,  but if it had been, we could’ve been in serious trouble.

This got me thinking about Noah and the flood.  What if, that’s what happened in biblical times.  It’s not far fetched.  The documentary said 70% of our planet’s fresh water is the frozen ice on and around Antarctica, and if it had melted, sea levels would rise 300 feet.

Now, if that were the case, Antarctica which is one of the only places on the globe we can’t really occupy and maintain a “normal” way of living because of the weather extremes, but would probably become the safe place to go.  Antarctica and some really high mountain tops.

What if in our attempt to explore space, and our never ending desire to know our place in this world, was almost our own demise?  What if we knew what were doing, and we knew what the outcome would be, but someone in biblical times went ahead and made that hole anyway, and melted the ice on and around Antarctica.  Maybe Noah built his Ark and sailed to Antarctica, and now it’s buried under the frozen ice.

What is really on that continent?

If you take Noah’s Arc out of Antarctica, you’re left with Attica!

WONDERLOVE

Sometimes I wonder, and I’m just speaking in general here for a moment, but I’m wondering how long it really takes for a person to get over someone they had a relationship with and who they really truly loved.  Is it possible for two people to have a relationship filled with so much love, it plants the seeds for that same love to blossom years and years after the breakup?  There has to be a way to find new love, and make new memories, even when all the signs point to the past.  Maybe that’s just it.  Maybe real love replaces real love, and all signs will point to the past until you’ve found a new love that conquers all.

I don’t know, if we were talking I’d say I’m just thinking out loud, which means I’m probably not making much sense.

FIREWORKS AND FOOTBALL

The 4th of July came and went.  Shit, it went so fast I didn’t even see the fireworks.  That’s how this whole year is going.  You blink, and it’s gone.  There’s like a little more than a week left in this month.   August is fast approaching.  The dog 🐶 days of summer as they call it.  August always reminds me of football season.  High school and college.  That’s when double sessions started.  I laugh when people complain about the heat during the summer.  Try putting on all that football equipment, and practicing twice a day in the depths of August.

I don’t know if I ever mentioned it, but I played four years of football at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey.  Much love to WIlly P.  I had some great times there.  I really hope the team has a better season this year.  I was just on the WIlliam Paterson Website a few days ago, and I saw they were winless in 2018?  We must change that this year.  Good luck Pioneers.

PIGS, PIRATES, AND PHILLIES

Right now the Phillies are 52-48.  They’re in second place, 6.5 games behind Washington in the National League East.  The Pirates are 46-53.  Currently, they’re in fourth place, 7.5 games behind the Cubs in the National League Central.  There’s just about 62 games left in the MLB regular season.

In much more local baseball news, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs minor league baseball team is 47-52.  They play their home games right here in Allentown, Pennsylvania at Coca Cola Park.  They’re about to beat Toledo’s ass tonight, the game is in the 9th.  The IronPigs are in fifth place in the International League North, and 9 games out of first.  The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are in first place.

All right everyone.  Have a good night, and a wonderful day tomorrow.  Make everyday count, and be the best person you can possibly be.

💕💪💪😛👍😎

Please Don’t….

If you want to help, help.  If you don’t, don’t.

Everybody needs somebody.  It doesn’t matter who you are, how great and talented you might be, or how much money you have.  At some point, we all need help.

Mr. X: “I just graduated college.  I was the most talented painter in my class, but for some reason, I can’t seem to get a job.”

Mr. Y: “Well Mr. X, I know Mr. Z.  Mr. Z owns his own art gallery and is always looking to purchase artwork from new talent.”

Mr. X allows Mr. Y to hook him up with Mr. Z because Mr. X needs a job.  Two years later, Mr. Y becomes resentful and angry at Mr. X because Mr. X is doing really well for himself and became a top selling artist.

Mr. Y continuously throws it up in Mr. X’s face  that it’s because of him that he got the job in the first place.  Mr. X can’t even enjoy the fruit of his labor.

There will come a time when you’ll realize what your capable of, and also, come to grips with your shortcomings.  At that point, you will look elsewhere for someone to help in those areas, because face it, if you don’t, you’ll be stuck in neutral.

To all those Mr. Y’s out there; No one wants to feel imprisoned because of your help.  Please don’t.  If you’re going to help someone out, do it out of the kindness of your heart.  Do it because you want to help, and because you really want Mr. X to become successful.

If your intentions aren’t genuine, Mr. X will see that eventually.  Mr. X, please don’t use people.  Mr. Y could be feeling the way he does because he feels used.  Thank Mr. Y, and let him know your decision to have him speak to Mr. Z was because out of many others, you trusted him.  Perhaps, when you become successful, you can repay him with dinner?

Have A Freakin Good Night

Training; Appearance and Decisions

How’s everyone doing with their weight training routines?  Today is the first day of July, can you believe it?  2019 is just about half way gone, and as I promised in January, we’d be taking this journey together.

So here we are.  Are you dropping those pounds?  I know I wanted a tighter – harder body, and I’m not even close to what I envisioned for myself at this point, but I am still going to the gym.  I’m not in beast mode, but I have been consistent.  I just completed my second consecutive week of three training days, and boy, am I sore as shit.

My workout has changed a lot so let me update you.  Right now, and for the remainder of the summer I’m going to continue with three days per week of weight training.  The days vary, but the routine is as follows:

Day 1 – Chest, Tri’s

Day 2 – Shoulders, Bi’s

Day 3 – Legs, Back, Abs

I discovered something about myself that I wanted to share, and I know everyone’s body is different, but just in case you’re in my boat, this will be helpful.  Do not get discouraged!

It has been 14 or 15 years since I trained with weights, and if you’ve been out of the game for a while then you know part of your motivation to train again was that initial observation of your body.  It’s the one when you’re like, “Man, I’m out of shape.  I need to join the gym again.  I look like shit.  I feel like shit.”

There is however, another observation that’s more of a revelation, and this is why I’m asking you not to be discouraged.  I think I joined the Gym in October last year, but the other day I looked at myself again.  The opinion of myself was definitely a little more serious this time around.

I’m really out of shape I said to myself.  I’ve been training since October, and I know I was only training one or two days during the week up until two weeks ago, so I’m not putting unfair pressure on myself.  I’m just being honest.  My body, over the years, has become a blob mass.  It’s kind of funny, but true when I compare myself to a 230 pound lump of clay.  There’s no definition, and no shape.  Needless to say, I have work to do.

At this point, it easy for us to quit.  It’s easy to convince ourselves at this point that weight training isn’t doing anything for us because after-all, we’ve been lifting since October.  Do not get discouraged, and don’t quit.  Let this new, more serious realization of your appearance be the motivation that propels you into 2020.

Crossroads

Life is filled with decisions.  Everyday whether we realize it or not, we make choices.  Sometimes we make choices without thinking, which is why we don’t realize this in the first place, but let me remind you that you’re at a crossroad here.  Which direction will you move forward in?

Route 20    Route 18

You

If you chose Route 20, you’ve decided to continue with your current training routine.  You were honest with yourself, and you didn’t like what you saw, but you’re deciding to do something about it.  Within the near future you’re going to adjust your weight training routine by adding another day and turning up the intensity.  In six months you will go in front of the Judge (you) for another observation/revelation.  You will continue doing this until you’re satisfied with what you see, and then you will maintain.  Welcome to the future!

If you chose to vere right onto Route 18, turn off at the next exit.  Make a left, drive over the bridge and merge back onto the road you were just traveling on.  One minute up the road on the right is the Route 20 exit.  Go that way.

Have a Wonderful Day!

“At Will” Vs. Common Sense

If employees can leave their employer at any time, for any reason,  and without a prior notice, than that obviously means there’s no such thing as “Job Abandonment” in the state of Pennsylvania, and therefore, if in the future, the employee wanted to reapply, the employer cannot give”Job Abandonment” as the reason for not hiring him/her back, right?

Unless they have a contract specifying a certain length of time for employment, all employees in the State of Pennsylvania are considered “At Will.”

The “At Will” Doctrine was initiated in Pennsylvania in 1891, in order to help give people the freedom to chose their employment and leave employment without recourse from the employer, but for some reason, at some time, a spin was put on this.

Now, today, we seem to focus on the fact that an employer in Pennsylvania can dismiss an ‘At Will’ employee, at any time, for any reason, and without prior notice.

This spin has without a doubt, put employees at a disadvantage which is really fitting with what’s going on with employment today in general.

If you are healthy enough to work, and you really want to work, and you’re actively seeking employment, there should be an employer willing to hire you and offer you a job that fits your qualifications.  If you’re healthy and capable of performing your job responsibilities, and you really want to work, that should be enough for you to keep your job.

It just seems to me that if an employer fires you on the spot, there’s a very personal reason for why you’re getting fired because if you want to work and you’re capable of working then there shouldn’t be any problems on the job in the first place that couldn’t be worked out or adjusted to.  With this in mind, it seems employers are more often than not, hiding behind the “At Will” Doctrine, while making job seekers feel they’re “just lucky to have a job nowadays.”

I know someone who walked out of a place of employment because his supervisor was speaking to him disrespectfully and threatening to make him perform tasks that weren’t in his original job description because he couldn’t cover a shift.

Twice this employee was in a meeting and twice, a similar conversation took place.  After the second time this employee walked out and never came back.  A year later, he tried to reapply, and the employer said he wasn’t rehirable because he abandoned his job.  He was an “At Will” employee.  How could he be a non-rehirable based on job abandonment?

Screw that!  Right here on my blog I’ve talked about self-worth, and people understanding and giving credit to themselves for what they bring to a place of employment.  Employers should feel lucky when they rope in an employee who’s really qualified and cares about his job.  It is a job market where people compete for work.

In closing, I would like to mention if an employer can fire an uncontracted employee at any time without a prior notice, then they should be required by law to  provide a reason why.

Think how it must feel if you were released, let go, or fired from a job and not given a reason.  How are you supposed to improve yourself?  How are you supposed to ensure this doesn’t happen to you again if you don’t even know what you did wrong?

Career; Separation and Hate

6/15/20019

What’s up everyone?  How ya’ll doing?  If you’ve been keeping up with my blog here then you probably read “Show Quote; Scene Making Sense,” and I hope life hasn’t hit you with a spinning heel kick to the balls like it has me.

Yup things were going great.  I was on my way to work, I had a few days left before break, and all of a sudden, BAM!  I was rear ended.  A spinning heel kick to the balls and a big steaming shit right in my mouth.  That’s how it goes.  I am okay.  I will fight to keep my head above water, and I’ll fight to win because life shows us no mercy.

Moving forward, there’s been a lot of talk about careers.   There’s also been a lot of hating going on, and I really don’t like using the word ‘hating’ in situations involving work, and I made a promise to not give anymore attention to negativity so I’m briefly going to talk about careers while gingerly intertwining hate into the conversation.

Career path/Future Path

When discussing your future or your future path there’s a focus on the individual level.  Individuality is something I really stress because I love the fact that we’re all different.  It’s fascinating to me.  Nothing is more interesting than watching a professional at work; a master of his/her craft.

I watched the college wrestling finals because I wanted to see the two top wrestlers (in each weight class) in the Nation, compete, and it was like watching art in motion.  There is a future in the cards for the world, but your future will be your world as it applies to you, and this includes all the symbolism and clues that go along with it.  The future path, which includes your career path, is about individuality, self-realization, maturity, and self-awareness.

Your career path is your method of getting paid, which ultimately sets you apart.  There’s a separation between those who can, and those who can’t, and those who do, and those who don’t.  Separation causes hate.

A position with ABC Company required a high school diploma.  100 people applied.  Everyone was happy.  A position with ABC Company then required a Bachelor’s Degree.  40 people applied.  There were 60 haters who weren’t qualified.  A position with ABC Company then required a Master’s Degree.  15 people applied.  There were 85 unqualified haters.

ABC Company is very successful.  They want the most qualified candidates, and more importantly, they want people who want a career within their company.  A position with ABC Company requires a Master’s Degree, and a clean background check.  10 people applied.  There were 85 unqualified haters, and 5 haters who were qualified criminals.

1 person got the job.  There were 9 jealous people.

The following week, the person who got the job put his new suit on and drove to ABC Company.  On his way into the office building he was faced with an angry mob of protestors.  They had signs and chanted, “no work, no money.”  Some of them were even throwing rocks and bottles at him and the ABC Building.

He passed the security guard, who ignored him, and headed to the elevator.  The elevator guy threw an evil look in his direction before pressing the button to the floor he was going to.  He greeted the woman sweeping the floor, but she just gave him a fake smile.  The two secretaries gave him the middle finger when his back was turned, and the guys washing his office windows were cursing at him, but he couldn’t hear them because they were outside.

He worked at ABC Company for a year.  As soon as his boss got his Master’s Degree, he fired him.

Show Quote, Scene Making Sense

Let me first say that I loved the original Karate Kid.  Parts two and three were excellent as well, but there was something about the original.  Maybe it was because I could identify a little bit with Daniel Larusso since he was from Newark, New Jersey, and I was a kid growing up in New Jersey when it came out.

Then they remade the Original with Will Smith, and to be honest, I didn’t really go for it.  I like Will Smith, but the Karate Kid was a movie that just couldn’t be remade.

The best thing they could’ve done however, they did.  Cobra Kai!  I thought it was going to be corny, but I’m super impressed.  I just finished watching the last Episode of the first season, and it’s amazing.  The writing is excellent, the story line is believable and not far fetched, and believe me, there’s nothing cornballish about it.  It flows, and I’d much rather see the original cast of characters in their roles now moving forward, then having someone try to remake a masterpiece.

That brings me to the scene before the All Valley Karate Tournament when William Zabka (Sense Lawrence) is speaking to his students about “No Mercy.”

“The older you get the more you’re going to learn that life isn’t fair.  You wake up one morning feeling great, and life throws a spinning heel kick to your balls and takes a big steaming shit in your mouth. (LOL😆)  You get an F on a test, get suspended, fall in love with a girl, and another dude comes and steals her away.  Your car gets set on fire.  Just when you think things are going good, everything falls apart.  That’s how it goes.  Life shows no mercy. ..we do whatever it takes to keep our heads above water, we do whatever it takes to keep moving forward.  We do whatever it takes to win!”

                                                                                                   –William Zabka Cobra Kai

This scene really resonated with me because it’s the absolute truth.  Life shows no mercy.  That’s how it goes.  The sooner we except this, the better off we’ll be.  This scene just woke me up, it motivated me.  Seriously.  Life will beat you into submission if you allow it.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful year, and making the most out of every day.  Let this scene and this quote motivate all y’all.
